La Bahia De Jiquilisco: Authentic Salvadoran Cuisine in Richmond, CA

Restaurante Bahia De Jiquilisco is one of our go-to spots for Salvadoran food. The food has always been consistently great, and we’ve been there many times. I really enjoy the sopa de pata — rich, flavorful broth with tender meat and vegetables. It’s comforting and authentic. The yuca frita con todo is another must — crispy on the outside, soft inside, topped with curtido and flavorful meat. Solid portion sizes too. The ambiance is good. The space is large, great for families or groups, and it feels lively. There’s a center stage area, so it looks like they have live music on certain days (not sure which days), but it definitely seems like a popular spot. Overall, great food, good atmosphere, and consistent quality. Definitely a 5-star experience for us. We’ll keep coming back.

So my gf said this place had good Pupusas. I was happy with the parking. I got the shrimp, and a pork with beans. Very good $4 a pupusas .

You have to come and experience El Salvadorian cuisine at its finest! Wonderful staff. You’re treated like family. And the food comes in huge portions.

Good food, good service, it reminded me of El Salvador, the first Latin restaurant that I feel at home is very nice, the next time I go to that area I will return..

This a great restaurant except the service! They just need more waitresses, we are literally waiting a while, when the food arrives it arrives at different times meanwhile mine is there the plate for my husband takes 15mins to arrive after! It’s just not polite to eat without my husband. I had to cancel my toddler order because we had finished eating and his plate was still coming. Overall good is delicious they just need to step it up with the service.

Authentic Central American cuisine. Plenty of seating, great for large parties. Portions are huge if you're really hungry. Fresh hand made tortillas and all their juices (Aguas frescas) are made with the real stuff and not powders or mixes. I saw them peeling tamarind in front of me. I got the grilled Salvadoran sausage and steak plate. Comes with rice, salad, queso fresco, refried beans and fresh tortillas. I washed it down with freshly made tamarind juice, which was phenomenal. And had ripe plantain empanadas. Come check it out. You will be glad you did.
